M. Kashimura and S. Komatsu: Personal Identification Utilizing 3-D Space Distribution of Micro Particles as a Key: Optical Experimental Results, Extended Abstracts (Optics Japan 2004) , The Optical Society of Japan, 408-409 (2004)

We propose a method of personal identification using a key made of epoxy resin in which micro particles are distributed. This key is difficult to imitate, and it makes highly accurate identification possible, because the 3-D space distribution of the micro particles is used as a key. Three-dimensional information, i.e., the size and the position of the particles, is captured by an optical pickup system composed of a CCD and a mirror. The feasibilty of the present method is examined with optical experiments.
