We propose a new identification method that utilizes characteristic reflection spectra of cascaded fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). A piece of optical fiber whose core contains several different FBGs is used as an optical key for personal identification. The feasibility of the optical key is confirmed with computer sumulations.
