J. Nagasawa and S. Komatsu: Spectrum characteristics of side-polished chirped fiber Bragg gratings, Extended Abstracts (Optics and Photonics Japan 2009) (2009) 94-95. (24aE8)
We propose to use a side-polished CFBG (chirped fiber Bragg grating) as a token for personal identification and perform experimental study to confirm its feasibility. The side of a CFBG is polished with a diamond wheel saw to remove mechanically some parts of the clad, the position and the depth is controlled to produce various key patterns in the reflectance spectrum of CFBG. The experimentally obtained spectra include fairly narrow notches as expected.
