Abstract: We propose a new method to measure the phase distribution of a light wave by compensating its wavefront with a spatial phase light modulator(SPLM). In order to find the appropriate phase distribution of the SPLM, which is conjugate to that of the incident light wave, the SPLM is adaptively controlled according to the simulated annealing algorithm. Zernike polynomials are used to achieve faster convergence of the algorithm. The feasibility of the present method is confirmed with computer simulation.
